Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, April 24, 2026 – Embraer (NYSE: EMBJ/ B3: EMBJ3) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Defense of Brazil and TKMS with a view to the construction of a second batch of four Tamandaré-class frigates. The signing took place during a Brazilian Navy ceremony marking the commissioning of the F200 Tamandaré frigate, the first vessel of the class, into the Brazilian Navy’s fleet.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) establishes the foundation for the continuation and expansion of the Tamandaré Class Frigates Program (PFCT), aligned with the letter of intent signed this week by the governments of Brazil and Germany in Hannover. The initiative aims to renew the Brazilian Navy’s fleet, strengthen its operational capabilities and defense industrial base, and create export opportunities benefiting both countries.

“This Memorandum of Understanding aims to negotiate a new batch of four Tamandaré Class frigates, reaffirming the long standing Brazil–Germany partnership and the strategic cooperation with TKMS, while preserving and advancing transferred technological know-how, strengthening Brazil’s defense industrial base, and creating export opportunities for both countries”, said Bosco da Costa Junior, President and CEO of Embraer Defense & Security.

Oliver Burkhard, CEO of TKMS: “Advancing with a new batch of frigates is essential to sustain critical capabilities and preserve the knowledge developed through technology transfer under the Tamandaré Program. This memorandum also reflects the strong cooperation between Brazil and Germany and TKMS’s long-term commitment to Brazil.”

The Tamandaré-Class Frigates Program (PFCT) is one of the most significant modernization initiatives of the Brazilian Navy. The contract was signed in 2020, and approximately 2,000 professionals are directly involved in the construction of the vessels. Including indirect and induced effects, the program has generated around 23,000 jobs, reflecting its strong multiplier effect on the economy.
